TY.

Are left handers still required to use a funtain pen?

Ruby - when do they typically earn their "pen licence"? I amssume this is based on quality of handwriting?

yr 3 or 4.
I think rather stupid as they do not appear to teach handwriting in any systematic way. Or provide any extra support for spider writers like my dd.

However, my 6 wks of badgering over the hols, complemented by writing out poems then illustrating OR just dd maturing a little, has resulted in better penmanship.

At DD's school it is sometime during Y3 I think. No to fountain pen though - think the girls get to choose.

From Yr 3, thy have to earn their pen licence and that could be in Yr 3 or Yr 4.

In Year 2 at DD's school, IF they reach a point where they are writing confidently, with few mistakes and rubbings out.

The pens are school-issue, Berol fibre-tip handwriting pen. They are serious status symbols!

(DD's best friend has fabulous handwriting and DD has suddenly discovered the motivation to improve hers so that she "earns" a pen at the same time as her friend. I like her teacher's style grin )

Yr3 if they complete the handwriting sheets. Berol handwriting pens too.
