At our school they take a water bottle. Not sure they actually drink from them but ds's made a handy mud receptical.

They won't do PE on the first day, but you should sent PE kit in on maybe the second day - it will just hang on a peg until needed. PE kit also handy if there are accidents of any sort (paint spilled, mud fight etc) as the children can change into them.

Our school also ask for a raincoat and wellies so children can play out in all weather.

No need for things like pencil cases IME.

School should have told you, but...

Ours need water bottle filled with water; snack for playtime (apple, raisins, banana); packed lunch if applicable; PE kit; raincoat.

Some schools request pencil case with crayons etc.

Bottle of water ( named), dinner money/packed lunch, raincoat. She shouldn't need to take pens/pencils

Phone the school and ask (you won't be the only one )
DD will take her bookbag, lunchbag and PE kit (which then stays on her peg).
Her Reception class get free fruit at breaktime, and the school supplies water bottles.

I always put a keyring on the handle of my DCs bookbags so they're easy for htem to spot in the huge pile of identical bags

PE bag and water bottle. I would also put some tissues in her school bag and spare knickers and tights/ socks in her PE bag (as they tend to fall over in puddles in the playground quite a bit).

As MamaG said, try and distinguish her bag from the others with a keyring, badge etc.
