What level should a TA be in YR....................

they dont have to be, i'm a level 3 but tje schhol i'm at uselevel 2 TA's to cover PPA, there are TA's that have only done their early years and are in YR 6.

Depends on the school, alot of advertisments do ask for level 3, some just ask for experience

Each class has its own Teacher and then Teaching Assistant (TA)(hopefully).
In Reception (YR) class does the TA need to be at a grade of Level 3?

No, a TA does not need to be a level 3 to work in Reception or any other class. There are different levels of TAs that will be responsible for different jobs and be paid at different rates of pay.

DS school is moving Nursery Nurse and TA paid Level 1 (both part-time) up to Y1 with rest of the class in September.
They have advertised for TA level 2 (desirable) in YR.
Just thought bit off.

themildmanneredjanitor - unfortunately it all depends on what the school wants to pay you. Having a qualification doesn't automatically mean you will be paid at that level It depends on how the school want to use you re: your role

"Ratios of adults to children
With an increasing number of early years practitioners gaining Early Years Professional Status (EYPS), the new statutory guidance details changes to the requirements for children aged three and over in any registered early years provision from September 2008 (Appendix 1).

Between the hours of 8am and 4pm, where a person with Qualified Teacher Status, Early Years Professional Status or another suitable Level 6 qualification is working directly with the children, the following requirements apply:

• there must be at least one member of staff for every 13 children
  at least one other member of staff must hold a full and relevant Level 3* qualification.

Well our school is up the paddle then,

32 class intake in Septmeber 2008.
1 Teacher and new TA level 2 (not yet qualified).
This does not bother me yet but may do next year when dd goes.

If there are more than 30 children the school should employ 2 qualified teachers or adjust class organisations so there are no more than 30 children per qualified teacher.

mrz, I know yes you are right, they allocated 30 spaces and 2 went to appeal and got in because of sibblings.

I would imagine 32 down the line (juniors) would be easier than 32 in reception.
My mum used to teach reception, her biggest class ws 36, with a NNEB 1 afternoon a week!

There is always a "get out clause" I'm afraid.
The problem is if you start with 32 and families move into the area by KS2 you can have nearer 40 per class.
My biggest class as a reception teacher was 36 in the days before the Foundation Stage PE was a nightmare
