What is the most memorable comment from your child's school report?

DS1's report mainly says that he does X, enjoys Y and really enjoys Z. But the best comment of all, and the one that means we will keep his report from Reception for ever and for always is

"[DS1] does not always know what his arms are doing"

DD2 is quite possibly the nicest, cleverest, most splendid child I have had the priviledge to teach. Please Mrs Nigella, could I keep her in my class for another year.

That's classic fridayschild! Nothing so witty in DD's. The headteacher's comment started with a "Wow!", which we will remember for some time.

Mainly I like the ones that damn with faint praise. Like "R likes joining in with singing." Which clearly translates as "unfortunately she can't hold a tune and that's the best that can be said"

'DD is learning to control her emotions' PMSL she is such an old crybaby/fishwife, always has been. DD's own comment was 'I need to work on playing Puppy Power' (ie playground game with friends)

Science- DD2 likes to predict what is going to happen during investigations and likes being proved right.

General- DD1 has her own opinions and enjoys sharing them with the class.

I think they take after me!

Haven't got any reports for DD yet but thought I'd share a comment on my own school report when I was 9 - it damaged me forever and I never sing to this day:

Singing

Joins in with gusto. Unfortuntely out of tune

My grandmothers house had to be cleared recently and we came across some old school books of my Dads. On practically every piece of work was written "bad work"

No wonder he left school at 15 to play football!

Some lovely ones on here and some ones.Mine were always dull but ds1 had one that said great start etc and if you carry on like this[name]you can touch the stars which I thought lovely.

I think dd1 needs some sort of award for having the phrases 'away with the fairies' and 'head in the clouds' used about her on the same report.

Her 'maths' section starts with 'What a girl!' and I nearly fainted dead away; but it turned out that her maths teacher was also the director of the Year 3 play and the comment referred to her thrilling cameo as 'the green witch'. It was when we actually got to maths that the 'away with the fairies' comment came out.

With both of mine I always hunt for the teacher euphemism for "If X sat down and shut up occasionally she/he would do much better" This year it was "X sometimes lets his enthusiasm run away with him"

I love the comment on my godson's report "Once we worked out who was the teacher and who was the pupil we got on very well indeed!"

'Ds got stressed over the pencil. Then the words, then the mistakes, then life!!!'

For Design and Technology, dh got 'Does not possess much talent in this area', which he quotes at me as a reason not to do any DIY

DS1 got an award for "sharing his ideas with us" - to me, this translated as "opinionated, just like his mother"

and apparently dd1 likes to organise and tidy. news to me, but believe me, that's getting quoted all summer round here...

ds1 also got 'what a star!' from the head, so i guess the fact that he's a lazy toad that they find impossible to motivate passed her by...
