Private Prep Schools in Surrey?

Hello, Has anyone had a good experience with any private prep schools in Surrey? I'm looking for my daughter and I'm feeling a bit lost with the online research I've done. Both co-ed and all girls are fine and no further than a 30 mins drive from Raynes Park. Thanks

hi @Absct! Can personally recommend Tormead School in Guildford. I know a few others on here and outside of Mumsnet that can do the same. I have a friend who does the morning run to Guildford from New Malden every day, and its between 25-35 mins depending on traffic. Guildford also has other good offerings in GHS etc. However, it depends on the fit for your DD, as they're all slightly different, so important to look! Why not book onto an online open morning, they are all doing them? I'll plug Tormead's, because for me it was a fantastic choice for us, lovely little school, happy place with academics going hand in hand with the girls welfare! If you look on their website they also have a virtual tour that you can do yourself. Twitter is handy too and you can see their junior school by googling it: twitter.com/tormead_js?lang=en
Don't forget there is also GHS, St Caths and others, all of them great schools and i'm sure others will elaborate more on them! You're spoilt for choice in Surrey! Good luck!

Do you want a through school or just a prep?

After8itsgrownuptime Either. I know of some good secondary schools so would be happy for DD to go to a through school or just a prep.

Depends on how academic you’re kids are but Claremont fab court springs to mind in Esher - it’s just off the A3 and is a through school.
surbiton high school and prep would also be doable

My girls are at a prep but not in Surrey. I’ve heard great things about Notre Dame in Cobham and there is a school bus that picks up from Raynes Park station although this may be for the high school only.

There are lots of schools to choose from within a reasonable radius - what sort of school do you want? Very/not/slightly selective? Traditional prep school to Y8/one that stops at Y6? Boot camp/laid back? Where do you think you might be aiming for at secondary level?

Personally I think to drive to Guildford from Raynes Park would be too long in traffic (which there usually is around Guildford). What about the schools in Surbiton/Wimbledon/Kingston which would all be closer?

From Rayners Park I would look at Holy Cross (but that RC) but also the Study in Wimbledon. You also have Rowans but that only goes until 7 and you are probably too late to sign up.

@lockdown555 we are sitting the 11+ for Claremont. Do you have any experience of the SEN there. DS has dyslexia and I have heard some people say it’s not longer SEN friendly
