Rowan Prep Claygate and Parkside Cobham - advice on where to live please

We’ve finally committed to following the well trodden path from SW London to Surrey. We’ve found schools that we like for DD6 and DS9 and are trying to figure out the logistics of the most convenient place to live so that the school runs work. We’re used to walking to their current schools, so a long school run will be very new to us.

DH will be commuting to Waterloo, but has the option to drive given we have an electric car.

Options are Esher, Cobham and Oxshott at the moment. I can see distances on google maps, but need to understand where the traffic bottlenecks etc are and whether traffic in one direction is worse than the other.

Does anyone have kids at both schools that would be kind enough to share their experiences? Or any help from those who know the area well would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I know it sounds crazy but would you consider Milbourne Lodge or Shrewsbury House for your ds instead and move to Claygate? Otherwise you are looking at breakfast club/ after school club school minibus combination for 1 of them.
Also consider ringing the registrar at 1 of the schools and ask if they know of anyone with that drop off combination.

Lots of parents at Milbourne have girls at Rowan as well.

I agree @trinity0097, I don't live in Claygate but I can see you end up with a village like lifestyle with lots of walking but near London and loads of schools.

OP, another option for your ds is Claremont Fan Sch - prep as it's in the same claygate / Esher area as Rowan.

Agree with others that Millbourne Lodge would be a great option for your son

Or Notre Dame in Cobham for your daughter?

I do love in one of the arts you're considering and would say that in normal times, anywhere at one of the A3 or M25 junctions can be a nightmare. Especially the Cobham A3 / M25 area. Roads through Oxshott can get congested again around the A3. A3 itself has huge tailbacks going northbound where 3 lanes go into 2 just before Chessington.

Ideal locations to live would be either Cobham for Parkside & Notre Dame, or Esher area for millbourne & Rowan.

Do you have eyes on a secondary school for your daughter? Also worth considering, although there are plenty of schools in the area that have good bus routes.
