Best Prep School (boys or coed) near Gerrards Cross

Can anyone recommend names of good prep schools for boys (or could be coed) that are in or driving distance to Gerrards Cross?

Considering a move there and want to research schools first. Would prefer them to be feeders into the Harrow/Eton/Winchester league of schools if possible!

Thank you :)

The Beacon in Amersham. Largest boys prep in the country, lots stay until Year 8 and go to a wide range of senior schools including the 'top' schools, some leave at year 6 for the grammars.

Caldicott is the obvious one.

Not that much else in the area that specifically caters for the great majority wanting to go to those schools.

Don’t ignore the prep schools that occasionally send children to these schools though. Just because they don’t send huge numbers regularly doesn’t mean that the children aren’t well prepared for entry. Look at the leaver destinations for all the schools in the area. The Beacon, for example, is worth a look. A lot leave for grammars at 11 but a large number stay to 13 and go to a wide range of both local independent day and boarding schools (including the ones you mention). Seven boys to both Eton and Harrow in the last three years.

Caldicott, they have to board for 7&8. My boys have always been really happy at Davenies.

If you are aiming for Public School Caldicott. Although I would only recommend it if your child likes sport and does not have any sort of spld, as I don't think that they deal with this well.

The Beacon is a bit of a mix - day/some go to boarding some leave at 11.

Gayhurst is in Gerrards Cross and there’s also Dair House which isn’t far. Not sure if they are feeders for the schools you want though.

Gayhurst and Dair House focus mostly on the Bucks 11+. They most definitely don’t feed the top boarding schools.

It’s not that they don’t feed...they just have more of a mixed feed. Yes 11+ is popular, but a lot of kids also go elsewhere. MTS and Berko are popular, but there have been the odd few to destinations like Eton & Charterhouse.

Gayhurst and Dair House finish at 11 and do not do CE. Beacon and Davenies are more mixed and do do CE. Caldicott is clearly aiming towards CE and exit to boarding public schools

@Mumto2two - both Eton and Charterhouse don't start until 13+, so neither school can feed to them.
