Poole Schools: Waiting lists for Baden-Powell Junior School and Lilliput Infant School

We are moving to Poole to be closer to family. We realise we have missed the first round allocations and were wondering if any students get in on the waiting lists to BP or Lilliput Infant in Year 3? If not, where else is popular near Lilliput/Lower Parkstone? Academics are important but more important would be a happy school for active social boys. Also, to get in by waiting list, how close to the school does your home need to be? Any thoughts or advice are welcome. Thank you.

The local authority should be able to give you distance information on how far away you have to live. Some even have the data on their admissions section on their website (we have this in Herts).

There’s no Y3 at Lilliput, it’s Infants only YR to Y2. For state Y3, children tend to move from Lilliput to Baden Powell or Ocean Academy, some are now going to Oakdale too if missed catchment for Baden. I believe all the children in catchment that applied for a Y3 place Baden for Sept 2020 did get a place. It’s a low birth year apparently. There were lots from Lilliput last year and the previous years that didn’t get a place at Baden despite being in catchment

The last place in catchment went something like 1.1 miles this year but it’s been as low as 0.6 miles in catchment before

Sorry, I meant to write back. I spoke with the local authority and they gave me the names of the forms needed to apply but they still have to go through appeals soon and it sounds like it is not likely going there are going to be many chances for this year. Just bad timing but I am sure we will figure out something- I can just continue homeschooling and at this rate of progress can just try for Y3 again next year. Those catchment distances are very helpful Paddingtonthebear. I really appreciate it, thank you.
