Offer Day

Can anyone tell me when we tend to find out on offer day? I'm not in London. What time is the school likely to be on the parental portal?

How's everyone feeling about it? I'm very nervous. All of our 3 choices are excellent schools and I'd be happy with them. If we don't get one of those however, the other 2 local options are not great. One of them is not a bad school but I think would be a poor fit for DD. The other is a struggling school and I'm not sending her there, I would home school before sending her there. We are likely to get our first or second choice but looking back there was a year a few years back where we wouldn't have, due to it being a bumper sibling year for some reason.

I think it entirely depends on your local authority. mine says we'll get an email any time after 4pm if you applied online. We had 6 choices.

Our first choice is literally 10 doors down from us so I'd be really surprised if DS doesn't get in. All of the school's we picked are 'Good'. There are no outstanding schools around here but my closest friend is a teacher, and has said that 'outstanding' just means they ticked all the right boxes, not that they're providing a well rounded education.

Our secondary school offer was emailed to us just after 8 am last month. We are also waiting for an offer on Thursday. I hope both of your children are offered schools where they can be happy.

Our local authority is always just after 5pm on offer day.

Gosh, could it be that late in the day? I am so nervous about it. We are unlikely to get our first choice, but until we know for certain I keep letting myself have a little hope.
Our first and second choice are lovely schools, and I think we have a reasonable chance with No 2. I am really not very keen on 3rd and 4th, for various reasons.
I'll just feel better when we know one way or another.

London and Surrey are always after 5pm Marahute. And the emails take hours to come through, but you can log into the site from 5pm (it won't be there before) and check it directly.

Other LAs have their own arrangements - midnight, morning, etc. OP - you would be best to ask about your LA and someone might know their practices!

Thanks @GolfForBrains, I'll double check the submission email, to see if there are any clues! Star

It’s midnight here, you have to log in and check, there’s no email. I’m staying up and the champagne will be chilled in preparation to celebrate/commiserate! We live 0.3 miles away and have a sibling already in the school, so it’s practically certain. Practically...

With my first 3 years ago I woke up in a panic at 2am on offer day and logged in and the offer was there for our first choice, still no idea how we got in as it’s a church school in a small village and we’re further away than some who haven’t got in in subsequent years but I’m so grateful we did!
Now waiting for Thursday for his younger sibling, I think we’ll be ok but I’ll still be obsessively checking all night!

I think it may be different round here now and you have to wait for the email, we’re in lancs if anyone knows? I’ll still be awake all night checking though!Grin

@Oysterbabe
when we applied for secondary school entry in Bristol through Bristol LEA emails were sent out in the morning. We received ours at approx 9am.
However if your LEA is South Gloucestershire they had a different system and parents had to log onto a portal.

Thank you.
I definitely come under Bristol. There is a parents portal to log on to so maybe they've changed it. I spoke to a local mum and she said she got an email at 00:05 last year.

I am so so so nervous

Over the course of 2 years I visited 15 schools because my son has has unofficially diagnosed adhd (they won't diagnose him until he is 5 but the dr, health visitor and play therapist are pretty sure. But can't get a diagnosis otherwise that would have actually helped us.

We are Christian and attend church regularly its a church school but also very good with SEND its a great fit for our son too

We get the priority through attending church but before us are siblings and official diagnosed send ect we are not in catchment and its a small school

First choice is such a great fit for him ill be devestated if he dsnr get in... they have really helped a little boy with the same problems as our son....

All the schools on our list have good things that will help him but this one is very good

Its not an outstanding rated school and hasn't been oversubscribed yet

I'm so worried about not getting any oj the list as so many of the schools I invited i wouldn't want my son near because of the way they handle kids like him....

I'm so very anxious
