Hi all,
does anyone know how FHG year 6 results look like this year?

Thanks a lot

Why?
It’s a school with a consistent track record. Each year results can vary up and down.
What’s special about this year results?

Good evening MMMomDD. I am a prospective parent and interested how the girls did this year. Last year was quite spectacular :)

Result always fluctuate. Stellar years may or may not be repeated next year. Its true for all schools in the area - FH, G, KP, Bute.
And results difference year on year doesn’t mean that the school suddenly became better or worse.
Kids in these schools are selected very young, and it’s imprecise, so there is a lot of variation in abilities in classes year on year.
So - as a prospective parent - the exact numbers are only relevant somewhat.

FH is a good school for a right child, and a right parent. So are the other ‘academic’ schools in the area.

But if you must know - FH normally publishes results quite early. So all will soon be revealed.

I don t understand why people are getting so offended when we discuss school results. it is like it was a taboo subject. Of course you will not based your decision solely on the Y6 exam results but lets be honest for some parents it is important. FH like KPS, Glendower, Bute is an amazing school and results will vary from year to year as it is very much based on the strength of the cohort and other schools cohort.

Offended?
I was merely asking why ask now when the results will be soon punished.
If your DD is starting in sept - you aren’t likely withdraw her now, irrespective of results.
Maybe I’ve been in a primary preps age stage too long and so can’t get excited or bothered with the annual results comparisons between the usual suspects.

In a very small school (IIRC Falkner House has less than 30 per year) the statistical noise between result years will be far greater than any impact the teachers have.

If your child is about to start there, worry about their end of school results in a few years time when your child will have the same teachers as the kids taking tests.

I would say, still a very good result, and this years has really been different so maybe doesn't play to their knowledge of testing as it has been in previous years.

Not sure you were talking about Falkner House? they published results for this year and they got 5 SPGS offers out of 21 girls.

Is your daughter going to FH @Lolakath19? How do you find the school so far? Did she attend the nursery before that?

Report
Bringonspring · 19/03/2021 22:57

Oooo I love knowing what the offers are. We should start a thread and broaden it out to other schools

Yes she is at FH (my son in the boy school as well). And we are very happy!
She was not at the nursery.

Feel free to pm me if you have any specific questions etc

Some schools have posted their 2021 results. Pembridge is quite impressive considering it is a non selective school and don't pressure their girls.

Could this be a result of Pembridge's online platform being quite good, so the girls did not miss much during lockdown, unlike the majority of the girls from state primaries, for instance? The other school results (FH, G) seem quite consistent, in comparison.

I think it is the result of coronavirus. The intake at SPGS will not be nearly as diverse this year. It will be more concentrated from top well known schools. More difficult to look for the exceptional among state schools who have not had access to better online teaching. So SPGS go for the surer option and that means more from the top private schools and families that could afford the extra support. If Pembridge are indeed improving results, they are going to have to throw it again next year to get some consistency outside exceptional circumstances.

Adding to the Bute stats for a fuller picture. Bute had 29 offers each from both G&L and Latymer and 15 to SPGS. That is about half the year group staying in Hammersmith.

Report
MMmomDD · 31/03/2021 01:22

SPGS didn’t increase the share of incoming class that comes from K&C preps - it’s just that the numbers moved around ... few more at PH, few less at FH, etc.
All together kids from these preps are around a third of the intake, which, if anything is lower than in previous years.
And in fact, my understanding is that this year they actually increased the numbers coming from state schools, as well as diversity candidates.
This year’s selection was very different from the way they selected before. Or at least it was missing the key component - the usual and quite tough exam papers. (The test they cobbled together at the eleven hour didn’t really compare).
So - only time will tell if the incoming cohort is as strong as their usual cohort.

As to the Bute results - they are in line with the usual results. Half of the class of 60 ends up in the top Hammersmith schools. Distribution among the schools differs over the years.
