11 Plus

Hello all.
Please can anyone give me an insight in to 11plus and catchment areas. So we live in south east London and have our eye on Bexleyheath Grammar Schools (Bexley Grammar, Townley and Chilsehirst and Sidcup) and possibly Kent 11plus too(but that’s a lot further out). My questions are:

  1. Does it make a difference on scores/points if my child does the 11plus from current location or from same area? Do they need more or less dependent on which area they sit the exam from?
  2. How long before do you have to be in the area to register from that town?
  3. Is there anyway around this as we have a rental property in that area already but to get up and just move would be a big step. And ideally would only look to move if my child got in to the grammar school

My child will be going in to Year 4 this year so just planning ahead!

Thank you in advance

All the information about the selection test is on the London Borough of Bexley website, as are the admission details for all Bexley schools (including how places are allocated at each school).

You can register your DC to sit the test from any address, but whether or not your DC will be offered a place may depend on how far away from the school you live, unless their Bexley Test score puts them in the 'top 180'.

Schools have to determine their admission policies for each academic year by the end of February in the preceding calendar year, so the details for entry in September 2022 will be available in Spring 2021.
