Sorry if this post makes me seem dim ... I'm a single parent and this is my first child, I don't know what the etiquette is! School registration week is next week - do I bring my child along or go alone? Also dd is currently at nursery 3 days a week. Can she continue to attend nursery right up until the new school term starts or is there a period between finishing nursery and starting school? East Dunbartonshire area.

It's a form you need to submit either on paper or online to your local authority.

You have to fill it in and make sure it gets to them by the closing date

Do you mean applying for a school for September 2020? You need to apply via your local authority. There will be an online form and you list which schools you would like to apply for, in order of preference. Hopefully you’ve already done your research? The deadline is quite soon (15th Jan) so you’d want to get it completed and sent off in the next few days.

In terms of the nursery, yes, they can stay there u til they move to school.

As you're in Scotland it's different what others above have said. We're south Lanarkshire but I think other councils are the same and you go to your catchment school during the enrolment week to register. You don't need to take tour child either as it's just in ours a form filling exercise and they check your documents for your address, etc.

For nursery jt will depend whether it is open over the school holidays or not. They stay at nursery until school or when the nursery finishes for summer. They should be able to tell how it works as well and what is covered under funded hours and not.

Hi all, thanks for replies. Yes reasearch all done she is going to her catchment school and the registration morning is on Monday, I just wasn't sure if I should be taking my daughter with me to enrol. Thanks for clearing that up I'll go alone! It's a private nursery that's open all year round so I guess she can attend right up till the school year starts. Will chat with them today. I just wanted to get my facts right sometimes feel like a fish out of water with her being my first! Thanks everyone!

Good luck with it all.

It sounds a far more civilised system than the UK angst ridden application/nervous wait arrangement.
