1a for a child in year one, is this just about acceptable?

Depends what 1A means. In my school, this would mean a child who has achieved above the end of year expectations for yr 1 so would be very good indeed, in other schools it might be a child beginning to access yr 1 work. It depends what it means in your school, there is no national measure for year 1 so it could mean anything!!

They haven't completed the work for the year yet. They are moving along what ever system your school uses.

Only the teacher can tell you what 1A means.

It's easier to be exceeding in some areas in Foundation than it is in Year 1, particularly writing. A child who is meeting age related expectations in Year 1 is doing very well.

As Spanieleyes says there are no national expectations for Y1 and every school will have their own criteria and assessment expectations so only the school can tell you whether they consider 1A good/bad/other

I doubt any dc in year 1 are actually 'above' after a term. It's way way easier to get exceeding in EYFS. A lot who got expected in EYFS will be below in year 1 particularly after only 1 term.

In the nicest possible way you need to chill out. Getting exceeding in EYFS an academic genius does not make. Dd1 got expected mainly in reception and is GDS in Y6. Dd2 got mainly exceeding in reception and is expected in Y3 and has been below for writing on and off.

Your dd is doing well at school and time will tell what happens. Older ones I suspect also get a lot more exceedings in reception but the younger ones catch up.

Don't be ridiculous. She's in year 1, she should be enjoying her time at school and not having this amount of pressure put on her by you. We are only just over a third of the way through the year. Poor girl.

Does it matter? If shes happy, enjoying school, making progress and has acceptable social interactions? Please don't let her know she's 'dissappointed' you. Christ.
