Hullo - we are considering a move across town from West to East and that would necessitate a potential re-do of Prep School search as applications for our son, currently in Form 2, for September 2020 start.

We are looking at Brixton and Herne Hill surrounds and as I have no idea of schools on that side of town - and as I am now so very late in the application process as to have missed most major deadlines - I was looking for recommendations for Preps in and around the area.

Thank you so much!

have a look at rosemead prep (in dulwich so 15ish minute drive to brixton) or parkgate house (around a 5 minute drive to Brixton). all the best with your move x

Rosemead, Oakfield, Bishop Challoner if you're willing to extend your area a bit further. There's also Herne Hill, Alleyns, Dulwich college and Dulwich prep but they're less likely to have places available.

Thank you both very much - I'm so grateful for the steer.

Yes v aware it's far too late for some schools (and DS will be giving up hard won places at Preps on our side of town) but needs must...

Thanks again!

London Christian school? A bit further afield but actually quite commutable - 15 mins train from North Dulwich (in Herne Hill) to London Bridge.

Must it be prep - the state primaries in herne hill, dulwich and some in brixton are very good and imo and from friends experiences better than some of the preps mentioned here.

The obvious suspects wouid be the junior departments of Dulwich College or Alleyns.

There's also Dulwich Prep.

And if you think Parkgate House it within reach (ie you are on 37 bus route) all the Battersea preps (Thomas Clapham, Eaton House, Dolphin, possibly Northcote Lodge, and if 137 then also Newton Prep.

Yes, the schools would normally be full (all are popular) but people move all the time so they frequently have ad hoc places.

I shall also check out local primaries and the trains - thanks again so very much - this has been super helpful!

Have an ace Christmas!
