Prep school - South Bucks

Can anyone recommend a prep school for a boy around the Gerrards Cross area please?

My son currently attends a state primary in Year 4 but we haven’t been happy with the complete lack of support for him. Even our Senco has told us that they can’t really help him.
He may have mild autism (undiagnosed) and I really think he’ll benefit from smaller class sizes as he gets lost between the “brightest” and the “naughtiest”.

Thank you

Where do you see him going on to, as that might impact recommendations?

Passing 11+ and going to grammar?
Not passing 11+ but staying at state?
Going to academic indie?
Or less selective indie?

Have you got other state primary options? (I know GX area doesn't have many due to all the prep schools). I would look at them too as the Senco at your school sounds a bit hopeless.

Davenies - know a teacher there and he thinks the school is amazing (slightly biased opinion though). What about Gayhurst?

Davenies
Gayhurst
Thorpe Park
Caldicott
But no idea on any of them, my info is ~40 years out of date. Smile

I hear lovely things about Caldicott.

I would suggest you look at Thorpe House and Clare's court (further out - Maidenhead)

I know a couple of people who have moved their children with spld from Davenies

Caldicott is a different route - it preps you for senior boarding schools and common entrance. It also only really copes with very mild spld (I have a friend who is struggling with getting support for her son)

Also take a look at Dair House

Don’t expect independent schools to be better at SEN than state schools. They will expect high standards of behaviour and I think some of the schools above really should not be on your list for a DC with SEN. However you need to contact them and see what they say. However don’t expect miracles.
