First visit to school and DS#2 is going with my parents

And no matter how I try to rationalise it I am still so sad. I'm working and can't take any more time off (booked most of it for summer holidays). DS has his first school visit today and as he normally spends his Wednesdays with his gps they are taking him in. Only an hour and I know it's just for the teachers to meet the children and for the children to get first glimpse of their class mates, but I wish I was there. I'm going in on Tuesday for the next one.

Please tell me it doesn't matter. I've done it with my other 2 so I feel so bad I couldn't manage it with DS#2.

he will be fine. you are at next one no harm done.

Thanks.

I know he will be really. Guess I'm more upset at missing it for my sake. I remember DS#1 sitting at a table playing with lego type stuff steadfastly refusing to look at any other children but not letting me move an inch from his side. He was sooo shy and didn't take to school at all. And DD sticking loads of coloured squares on her piece of paper, and 'letting' me add some of my own. DS#2 is so much more confident than either of them so I know he'll be fine but it still makes me a bit . Don't want him to go at all I suspect....

And how has 6 years passed since I did the same for DS#1. I mean how does that happen?

it is scary i know. all in the blink of an eye. tis easire for 2nd ones i think generally as they have seen big brother going all normal for them.

its boring, you arent missing a thing
you have to stifle the yawns through the talk of school dinners, assembly, holidays and lining up, other parents daft questions like "why dont they get italian from P1 for christs sake?!" and "when do the piano lessons begin?"

and then you have the joy of waiting for the school blazers to be passed around so you can see what size to order your LO
bo-oring! best let the gps get on with it - they may even pay for the blazers

Ooh no we've done all that nailpolish. Last week - parents only. And yes it was dull dull dull. My eldest 2 have been at the school for years. And yes I did have to stifle yawns at some of the stooopid questions (that I probably asked myself once ). This is just for the children to meet the teachers.

ohwell in that case!

ds2 wont even notice who is there with him
neither will his teacher

i hope he enjoys his new school
