Reception in-year transfer

My son was transferred to a new school during summer (we moved so applied for in-year transfer) to start his reception in September. The council advised that the school will contact us "in timely manner", but the first day is tomorrow and there's still no news from the school. I called them, emailed them - no answer. I understand that the school was closed during summer and they were not aware of my son being offered a place there. But it starts tomorrow.. Should we just show up? Please advise!

I'd get back on to admissions at the council
They should be able to confirm whether they're expecting him.

Have the council confirmed your place?

Yes, the council confirmed and asked me to contact the previous school to tell them that we're moving to a new one.

If the council have confirmed the place, I’d show up tomorrow?

Reception classes often don't start on first day of term so I would ring them tomorrow.

I definitely wouldn’t just turn up with your child, it’d probably not be a great start if they’re not expected. Schools should be open though so you could pop in or call, and also ring the council. In our school reception hasn’t started yet and they’ll then be very part time for a week. Good luck

I am amazed the school is not pickiing up emails before the start of term. It's a pretty poor communication with new parents. I hope the communication improves.

Thank you all! Yes, we showed up at school (I explained to my son that we were there just to check when his reception class starts) and after 15 mins they found my son’s name and told that his bunch starts tomorrow. My son wasn’t disappointed, and he had a chance to check the school a little bit, which is good. No papers, no emails still. But at least we have the start date and the teacher’s name :)
