Godstowe Prep

We are from overseas and have applied Godstowe prep few years back for our daughter to start in Sept 2019 for Yr 2. I reached out to the school recently to follow up on our application and was advised that our daughter need to spend a day with the school before the Head can make the decision on the offer.

I read from their website that they are non selective and Mr Gainer from our last visit confirmed that as well. Is this assessment a standard process for overseas applicants? Or this is a new requirement? Anyone knows what to expect on that day? Thanks in advance for sharing information on this.

I think that at this stage private schools are looking to see that your DD will be a good fit for the school - ie that she has no additional learning needs and that she can sit still, listen, follow instructions and socialise with the peer group. I would not worry too much about it.

I have a sneaky suspicion that they are also checking that the parents are not complete nightmares.

Yes this is normal. My dd joined when mr gainer was still there and they had this as standard. It’s a “fit” test rather than selection as they are clear they are non selective. Dd will have a super fun day and you will likely have place confirmed at the end of the day
