It looks like due to finances my boys will have to leave their schools at Grimsdell and Belmont. I am Catholic and they are baptised so a faith school is an option, but I am open to all options. Not knowing anyone who has children their age 5 and 8 in the state sector, any advice would be gratefully received. Also it would look like they would start in January 2019 as I will have to give a terms notice :-( -

Not a faith school, but some friends of mine had children at Sunnyfields Primary until quite recently, and they were very happy with it. The eldest left at the end of last year.

The trouble is you can’t book a place at a school now for Jan 19. Either you can contact the LEA and find out where has space and accept a place now. May be able to defer start till Sept as so close to end of term or you could go on the waiting list for schools you like but if you get offered a place you would have to accept it and start pretty quick within 2-3 weeks usually.
I assume your younger child is under 7 if they are at Grimsdell. Classes will be subject to ICS rules ie.can’t go over 30.
I would contact the LEA, get out looking at schools. If somewhere you like has space for both kids grab it even if it means forfeiting fees at the current schools. At least you have time if schools aren’t available straight away.
