Hi,

I am thinking of buying some resources for my sons school as part of the end of year gift (starting early so I can get a bit each week). My son is in reception and has SEN (the staff have been fantastic) so the resources would have to be suitable for EYFS - any ideas on what to get? I will obviously get some books but was hoping to think of something a bit different too, maybe something usually not included in school budgets? Not looking to spend too much but as it'll be 'for' 4 staff members can probably do around £40 in total (including books). Any ideas from teachers are appreciated. Thanks

Pritt sticks and whiteboard pens are what most classrooms actually need.

It's a lovely thought, but it's such sad times when parents can so clearly see schools are struggling with the basics.

I run an autism specific setting and if I were making a gift to the mainstream EYFS setting at my school I would buy them a set of TomTag stuff.

Or a bag of sensory toys would be great- there are just never enough. That would lend itself to your plan of accumulating bits weekly.

BEST THING EVER for a class of 4 and 5 year olds

Plus pritt sticks of course.
I'm a fan of Stampers but it might be personal taste, and / or school marking policy which says no.

The biros with several colours on them are useful for marking in whatever colour is in vogue / demanded by SLT in any particular month

I wouldn't go with the TomTags unless you knew they specifically used them, as all children use different forms of visual timetables, or symbols, etc., and it might not fit with what they are using there.

You can apply the but they may not use it there rule to pretty much any resource.

An electric pencil sharpener is a great shout, but how would you know they hadn't just invested in 4 of them?

People saying prittsticks, wouldn't you be pretty embarrassed on behalf of the school to be gifted these by a parent? Do grateful patients take rolls of wound dressing into hospitals?

A collection of great stickers might go down well, it's the sort of thing teachers spend their own money on and schools shouldn't be spending cash on (not awesome holographic ones anyway).

I am not a teacher but think Prut stick , it would show and appreciate that schools don’t have cash lying around

Fancy post-its or nice highlighters. I buy lots of post-its for my class to make writing more fun/engaging for them. They cost lots and aren't provided as part of school budget.

Putty and fab foam to keep the sen kids engaged in quiet time. Stickers, stamps and pencil grips. Nice stationary and yes pritt-sticks
