School shoes

How many pairs school shoes has your child use since september , we are on 4th pairs with dd2 and 3rd with ds . We tried clarks , asda , kickers and sainsburys all ruined . Can anyone reccomend a good school shoes for a girl and boy please

Mine normally outgrow them before they are ruined. Usually get a new pair each September. My son is wearing dr martens he has had since September 2016! In the past we had Clark's and Kickers. We walk to school but they have never been scuffers.

Only change ours if feet grow. We’ve had Ricosta and Petasil. A bit pricier than Clarks but do last.

I'd second M&S £20 ish and indestructible- my DD is very heavy on shoes, £50 shoes looked awful within a term so I buy M&S every year now.

DD (Now 8) has had Clarke's shoes, she ruined them in 3 days. I bought kickers, scuffed them 1st day, Asda's etc didn't last very long so As a last ditch attempt to find a good pair bought the Dr Martens Maccy (on offer for £30'on amazon at the time)they lasted her from September-July and still looked good to wear. so I've bought her the same ones this year and their fab! Going to keep buying them every year until they discontinue them! No need to break them in, comfy straight away, have had no complaints from my daughter and they look fab too. Had black leather; haven't tried the Patent yet!

Girls school shoes are rubbish. Paper thin soles. My daughter's from Clark's fell apart in a week. Soles actually fell off.

We have better luck with startrite they seem to have buffers on the toes.

My kids have always had clarks shoes. They last til they grow out of them... No idea what some kids do to them!

I gave up on shoes this year and bought trainer shoes from sports direct ( school not very strict on uniform) they are not much worse than September

Lelli kelly or Dr Marten for dd and Geox or start rite for ds, they are a bit more but you will only have to but one pair instead of 5+ so you will be saving.

We normally get through around 2 pairs each a year at primary age. Usually because they grow out of them but occasionally they wear through the soles.

We usually buy startrite for when they’re little and Doc Martens for top end of primary and highschool when they stop growing so fast.

We got our DD, sone Mary Jane style Dr Martens in the sale they look so robust and comfy, she's very pleased with them.

DM's here too......they are indestructible...even with my 10 year old with ASD ....he also has specialist insoles and they fit into his boots. DD 6 has Mary Janes and they are still going strong !

DS has the same pair of Clarks shoes all through Reception (luckily his feet didn't grow),

Anything leather should last better. After several pairs not lasting very long we bit the bullet and went to a more expensive childs shoe shop. They don't even stock Clarks (because they don't rate them). Startrite or Geox. What was really good was when after apx 4-5 mths the insole of the Geox went weird they were very happy to replace them. So what seemed like an expensive pair of shoes initially has actually lasted over a year.

DS used to go through a pair of shoes (various brands around £20) every term. We switched to clarkes gloforms (£40+) and they now last the whole school year.

DT1 is on second pair but her first pair were from last year so she had already worn them for a few months and she has outgrown them rather than ruined them. (both pairs start rite) DT2 still on first pair and they are patent ones from M&S. Bit too clunky and I've bought her some start rite ones in the sale (£12.50!) for when she outgrows this pair.

I think Clarks are shit and fall apart. I like start rite as most have the toe bumper which stops them kicking their toes through the front of them. I find patent ones look better than plain leather ones so try and get those if i can.

OP are they actually falling apart after a such a short time??? My kids are very active, walk to school, climb and play football constantly but school shoes still last until they grow out of them... although they'll be scuffed and battered within a few weeks. I'd only replace if DC moaned they were too small or literally fell apart... we use M&S/Tesco/Asda/clarks (if in sale) etc Always leather with a sturdy sole.
