Club together with other parents

I make shortbreads. And make a little pack of 5 or 6 up in a little bag tied with ribbon. With a personalised thank you on the label.

One year I also put a couple of individually wrapped teabags in too. (Forgot to buy any this year)

Basically a teabreak.

They deserve a thank you, but I can't imagine that they can really keep 30 proper presents each year or that they really need 30 boxes of chocs or bottles of wine.

Agree with the tea-break. Homemade shortbread, individually wrapped teabags (you only need buy one pack and split them) and a cheapy ikea mug each, wrap up in cellophane with a ribbon. Nice and easy and cheap too!

Lostinaseaofbubbles · 17/07/2017 19:24

I don't even bother with the mug. I figure they already have a mug.

I have a friend who makes a batch of homemade fudge and divvys that up. Apparently there's a nigella recipe that's really good and really easy (not tried it as I don't have a pan that doesn't have non-stick).

Dd has 8 members of staff she's sees regularly across Sen unit and mainstream so I just get her to make a card for each one

HeyMicky · 17/07/2017 19:26

I'm doing fudge and a card each. Cheap but handmade, doesn't have to be kept or a home found for it

MilkRunningOutAgain · 17/07/2017 19:28

We made a batch of fudge at the weekend. And sometimes we do chocolates. We take them in about a week before the end of term, as the teachers get inundated on the last day. I've stopped contributing to the group present collection, as when you have more than one child in different classes, it gets expensive.

I'm in Scotland and broke up two weeks ago: Got some lovely chocolate fudge and shortbread this year. My MIL always appreciates the wine although I don't really drink in the house. If your children like making things you could let them make something for their teacher (keyring, odd box). Or just give a small box of malteasers (they keep and DH eats them).

Get the children to make or at the least write their teacher's card and even lovelier if you put in a personal thank you note.

Class collection. First year I spent £10 on crap basically for 3 teacher/TAs. Next time we all clubbed together and each got £40 or so in vouchers.

jamdonut · 20/07/2017 20:44

We finish tomorrow.
So far Ive had a box of retro sweets and chews with a lovely note attached and a box of Celebrations, with a lovely card , as has the class teacher.
I'm always surprised and grateful ( as a TA ) to get anything - and the loveliest things to receive are personal notes.
I should warn you , though, most teachers/staff I know are very wary of homemade 'eats', though we would never show it , and thank you gratefully all the same.

I don't think anyone has ever organised a class collection, in all the 9 years I've worked at the school? Confused

I ask all the parents in my youngest class for £5 then split grand total between teacher and TA usually giving M&S or John Lewis vouchers. Parents grateful asit means no hassle for them to sort out present. Plus teacher and TA don't get laden down with same old tat...And they can treat themselves to something they actually like!! I do it at Xmas time too!

Strawberrybubblebath · 20/07/2017 22:17

Home made cards would be really good and send the teachers home with a lovely warm feeling of being appreciated!
I agree with the PP that anything edible that is homemade is usually not eaten as never really sure about the hygiene when it was being made. No matter how lovely the family or the presentation.
