Can anyone recommend a solicitor in Hull, East Yorkshire who I can contact regarding representation at my son's school placement appeal?
Thanks in advance

Have you asked for any appeal help on here. I got help with mine, which was invaluable.

Ask the experts on here, they're amazing with their knowledge and generous with their time - try Admissions and prh47bridge. And buy the book 'How to Win Your School Appeal', I found it invaluable in helping me set out an appeal.

I've never heard of getting legal advice for a school appeal, I wouldn't have thought appeals panels would look too favourably on legal intervention in appeals cases; I honestly think it could do more harm than good.

I would echo the advice above; rarely, if ever, is legal advice useful. (I sit on appeals panels)

Solicitors tend to approach appeals as if they were a court of law, which they very much aren't.

Hi, it was a member of the senior leadership team of a school who deals with appeals that suggested it, do not sure. Just thought I would look into all the options.

Thank you, I'm not sure what to do for the best. Had a lot of conflicting advice.

I would also agree with the advice to avoid solicitors. A year or two ago I advised someone who had lost their appeal and was referring the matter to the LGO. Sadly it became apparent that the solicitor they had engaged had given them appallingly bad advice, as a result of which they had failed to present their strongest points to the appeal panel at all and had instead concentrated on irrelevant issues.

If you post some details about your case on here you will get advice. If you don't want to post information publicly you can PM me (click on "Message poster" just above this message).
