Need a reading list with nothing too taxing topic-wise, but with sufficient interest and language for a secondary age reader.

Help!

DD is in yr5 but part of a mixed yr5-yr6 class. She loves David Walliams books. Others have read the Ruby Redfort series, which is for girls who have outgrown Clarise Bean (which DD also liked). The Harry Potter series is also popular, but was too wordy for her, and DD loved the Little House on the Prairie books when I read them aloud. Last summer, she loved the Marsh Road Mysteries series and read some of the Unfortunate Series of Events but lost interest after 1 or 2 of those.

My DC are reading / have read (Y5 & Y6):
Time Travelling with my Hamster - Ross Welford
A Slice of the Moon - Sandi Toksvig
Car Jacked - Ali Sparkes
They always read the latest Tom Gates and David Walliams - not challenging but very enjoyable. Also David Baddiel.

Nothing! He hates reading.

However, when forced to, he has enjoyed a couple of David Baddiel (sp?) books, particularly The Person Controller, which is about siblings who get hold of a games controller which controls people. It was quite funny.

He also liked the Tom Gates books.

As well as being obsessed with the entire Skulduggery Pleasant series for the last couple of months, DS has also recently enjoyed a couple of Malory Blackman books – Antidote and Hacker. He's also spent many hours poring over two DK books – Super Bug Encyclopedia and Super Nature Encyclopedia.
