School place - What happens next ?

My child was luckily given a school place that we wanted.

This may sound like a stupid question but what happens now?

Does the school get in contact to let us know about uniform, school start and finish times, holidays or am I supposed to get in contact with the school ?

We moved to the area late last year and have no friends here that have children in the local school to ask.

It maybe all schools are different, I have no idea Confused

Thank you in advance

Yes they'll be in touch with you to all joining arrangements and setting in sessions.

Most schools will go in touch but it can be mid-May as they normally wait that the offers are excepted and places are more secure. Also SATs are done in May, quite a busy time and it all depends on the size and organisation of the school.

They normally offer information evenings and "get to know the school" afternoon for the child where you get all the practical information you want and need.

You may be lucky and they put these dates in the school calendar, you can browse the website for all kind of information. If the school does a Summer fair it may be worth attending as well.

The school will get in contact with you to let you know the settling in sessions and visits to the school, also with policies and uniform rules etc.

We had to accept our place last year. There should be something in the email about that. Then once you have accepted the school get in touch towards the end of the academic year, usually June sort of time.
