Hey there. I can't help but just to give you a glimmer of hope, we just turned down a spot for second grade - fingers crossed that's a spot that's useful to you...

I would call and ask how many are on the waitlist. Some grades have a larger waitlist than others. They freely gave that information to me when I asked.

Thanks. I have emailed and called (left a voice message). But not heard back. Did not want to be a pain. We are still waiting.

my twins were just put in ASL wait pool for 2018-19. Does anyone have any insight about whether there is usually movement from the wait pool? Do current families have to commit for next year by any particular date?
thanks for any insight

We applied for a second time after being waitlisted for the current year. We have been waitlisted again for 2018-2019. I also have twins applying for 5th grade. I’m not sure what it takes. I think the process lacks any clarity. I don’t have any hope that they will ever take my twins off the list.

Anyone else been in the wait pool twice? And did you ever get a spot?

I do know of families who had been waitlisted in the past and eventually got a spot in subsequent years. Don't give up hope. However, I will say that fewer spots seem to be opening up. This year the school had a 91% re-enrollment rate. Families who are returning have already committed and placed a deposit. Thus, the only openings that can happen between now and August, when school starts, are from families who either unexpectedly had to move from London, could not afford the fees anymore (25K-30K), or opted to move to another school last minute.

Also, keep in mind that siblings have priority at ASL. Thus, open spots are offered to current families over new families. This policy makes it even harder to obtain a spot if you are new to ASL.

Thanks LondonExpat. Do you by any chance know how many kids are typically in ASl's 8th grade, and how many are typically in 9th grade?

Middle School and hifh school grades have about 120 students - plus or minus. Openings for 9th grade would come from current students leaving ASL.
