Primary schools in N London Muswell Hill/Crouch End?

Hi,

We are looking to move in the next year and currently searching for primary schools in North London. Heard great things about Coleridge, but looks like we can get more house for our money in Muswell Hill. Haven't visited any of the schools yet, so any insights would be brilliant. Ideally we would want a school with a somewhat liberal approach with a warm environment. We both work in creative fields and hope to find a school and an area that is less hectic and with a stronger community than our current neighbourhood. Any ideas or suggestion to other schools?

The most popular Muswell Hill schools are Coldfall, Rhodes Avenue, Muswell Hill Primary, Tetherdown. If you run some searches I am sure you will find loads of previous relevant threads.
Another school which wouldn't be an obvious choice but you may wish to consider is Bounds Green. There are some great sized houses in Bounds Green for a lot less than you would pay in MH/CE and there is a large flow of young professionals that have moved from CE/MH precisely for the combination of good sized, well priced houses and good schools.

thanks for the info, I'm just about to have a look at Bounds Green as we've not even considered it. Being closer to a tube station is quite attractive too.. Smile

All the schools that Otter mentioned are good, but be aware that they all have very small catchments, which vary year on year. Check the council websites for distances for last year, and don't make any assumptions that you will be near enough unless you are practically next door to one of them!

Crouch End, and Coleridge in particular is incredibly over-subscribed when it comes to primaries. Unfortunately, you run the risk of not getting one and having to accept a place in Wood Green.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a few searches on on the various ones. I have been to a few viewings so it seems like it would be possible to find something (with some patience I'm sure Halo ) We are not in a rush so would wait and see what came up.
