Urgent review - St Joseph Catholic School in Redhill

We were offered yesterday a spot for our son in St Joseph school in Redhill (Surrey). Can anyone give us some feedback on this school? We have to decide between St Annes in Banstead and St Joseph in Redhill. Much appreciated.

Are you RC? Although the expansion of numbers from Sept 2016 is leading to a greater proportion of non RC children it still is predominantly orientated towards Catholic practises. Also attracts an international and social mix. The additional classrooms have proved controversial and unpopular, although this will probably bed down in time.

And whereabouts do you live? Traffic in Redhill/Reigate can be very congested at school drop off/pick up.

There are school buses though. LIZ is right the traffic around the school is bad at pick up and drop off. You can park in the sports centre car park but it is still congested. If you live towards Banstead way you will need to leave a lot of time to come into Reigate in the morning

Hi Liz. We are RC and is one the main reasons we applied to the school. We live walking distance to the school. Can you send me a private message with more details about the new classrooms, management, etc. Thank you

If you live within walking distance it is a no-brainer surely, you certainly won't want to have travel to Banstead each day for 7+ years unless you plan to move there longer term. My knowledge is via a recent parent who has seen things change but as a newcomer I suspect you wouldn't notice much difference as the school grows. There seems to be a strong link with the Parish of the Nativity of the Lord so if you practice at one of its churches you will find opinions there.

Lizs we're in the process o selling our property so location would not be a problem. I'd like to have some honest feedback to make the right choice for our son.

We are out of the country until the end of August so I can't really ask around for feedback 😬

There is an outstanding RC senior school in Leatherhead (St. Andrew's)which lists St Anne's as a feeder school. That would be well worth checking out imo unless you are looking at the independent sector for senior schools.

Can't pm from app. Not sure I've much more to add, sorry. It might also be worth asking on the MN local page for Surrey.

Most go from St Js to St Bedes in Redhill , an ecumenical comprehensive, which is highly regarded locally and one of the few local state secondaries with a 6th form.
