At last parents eve in Feb, teacher told us that DD (year 5) would be joining a small reading group for advanced readers. This group reads round and discusses book whilst rest of class get on with written comprehension exercises. Since teacher told us this DD has not been added to the group. I think teacher has forgotten to add her. Shall I ask about it?
Reasons for:
DD is quiet and I've previously asked for school to give her speaking opportunities.
Teacher has told me she's joining the group.
They read and discuss interesting books.
Reasons not to:
DD isn't too fussed either way. She tends to listen in anyway whilst doing her comprehension so she ends up imbibing both.
DD reads a huge amount at home so benefit might be negligible.
Comprehension exercises are good preparation for future English work.
So what do you think wise ones? Thanks
