Ds, year 5 had a reading assessment this week and scored 25 out of 40 can anyone give me an idea as to where this would put him please? he is upset and thinks he has done really badly despite much reassurance from me. Thank you

How old is he in years and months? I've got the book at school and can work out his age standardised score tomorrow?

Someone else might come along with the answer but if not I'll be back tomorrow.

A score of 25 would put him on an old 4B, with a percentile score of roughly 75 ( I don;t have the book at home but am extrapolating from similar results!!) and a reading age of roughly 10 years and 7 months so I wouldn't say he has done badly, he would be in the middle of my year 5's ( who scored between 8 and 39!)

Thank you spanieleyes he's in the top set and used to scoring fairly highly, hence him feeling he hasn't done very well.

Hello all sorry to jump on the thread but I have a similar question. Ds is year 6 and for his Autumn term test has got what I thought sounded like a great mark but he claims it is low compared to others in his set (he is top set for English). I'm actually embarrassed to put the mark on here as it sounds really good to me and a fuss over nothing but if anyone can help then I would be so grateful and will pm you the raw score. Thankyou!
