And what time does school start? Is your child's playground supervised by any staff before the official start of the school day?

We open the door at 8.45.
Playground isn't supervised before school.

SillyBub Sat 16-Jan-16 14:20:48

Gates open at 8:30, parents need to stay with children until 8:40 where they are supervised by staff until the bell goes at 8:50.

We don't supervise the playground before school and children are not to be left unattended. They are only in our care at 8:50 when school opens.

School starts 8:30, we can drop from 8, but must sign them in with staff. They're supervised indoors, not outside.

They can't.
They stay with parents until the bell goes then they go to class

Ours has just changed. Prior to last Monday school didn't open until 8:55 (apart from children in Breakfast Club) & all children had to be accompanied by adults until this time. the gates were opened at 8:40. At 8:55 the children lined up then the teachers came out & led their classes in. Our class always has the same parents who speak to the teacher every morning without fail so they are late going in.

Since last Monday the gates open at the same time but children are allowed to enter school from 8:45 onwards & there are staff at the doors. You cannot speak to the class teacher in the mornings now but it makes my life a lot easier.

No breakfast club option but gates open for drop-off at 8:30. It was 8:45 but this 15 mins has made a massive difference as anyone working in nearby town can now get to work for 9 and talks of a breakfast club seem to have stopped due to lack of demand.

Gates open 8.40, walk to entrances and send children straight in, adults don't go into the building. 8.50 doors close and you'll have to drop at the office on the late list.

We drop off at the front door between 8.40 and 8.50 - kids can go into the playground but it isn't accessible to parents. Bell goes at 8.50.

Gates open at 8.55 (ish, usually closer to 9), children go straight in. School starts 9.05. No teachers/other staff on the playground in the morning.

Thanks. My DD's school was 8:30 playground open and 8:50 start. Now it's 8:40 drop off. It's created a bigger issue with cars parking on the roads around, as drop off times are no longer staggered. However, I can see by your replies the new times are more like other schools.

Gates open from v.early, families start arriving on the playground from about 8.30. Doors open at 8.40, school starts at 8.50. Most children are in by 8.45, they are expected to be settled at their tables for the 8.50 start. No staff in the grounds at any point, KS1 must be supervised on the playground till they go in the doors, KS2 are allowed on site unaccompanied. It works really well.

Breakfast club from 7.30 am. Drop and run with supervised playground from 8.15am. Bell goes at 8.40am and they are expected to be in classrooms for registration at 8.45am.

WipsGlitter Sat 16-Jan-16 17:09:45

Breakfast club (supervised) from 8.10
Gates open 8.30
Supervision starts 8.40
Bell goes at 8.50
Second bell 9.00

StitchesInTime Sat 16-Jan-16 17:13:06

Breakfast club from 7:30am.

Doors to school open at 8:30am, registration at 8:45am.

No staff supervision at all in the playground before school starts, parents can take children into the playground before 8:30am, but the parents have to stay to supervise the children until the school doors open and the children go into the classrooms.

At Dd's old primary school started at 8:30am and children could be left from 8:15am when the playground was supervised.

At my school (infants only) there is no playground supervision at all. Doors open at 8:40am for an 8:50 start. Classrooms are supervised by teachers and TAs from 8:40

teacherwith2kids Sat 16-Jan-16 17:28:53

Gates open 8.15-8.20; teacher on playground from 8.30; come in for registration 8.45.

No parents come in to the playground - children dropped at one of the school gates (junior school).

We would prefer to open gates closer to the start of the supervised time, but then are faced with children who have had to leave home because their parents have left for work lurking outside the school gates on busy roads for 10-15 minutes.

All classrooms except for a couple look out directly onto playgrounds, and we are obviously all in well before any children arrive, so there is some indirect supervision before 8.30. It is made very clear to parents that any accidents before 8.30 are not our responsibility as we take responsibility from 8.30 am.

Gates open at 8.35 and the playground is supervised from that time, whistle blows at 8.45 and the children go in then. If it is wet, the gates open at the same time but the children go straight inside where the classrooms are supervised.

Playground is open from 8.30, doors open at 8.45. No specific policy on leaving children unattended but I don't see any wandering 7yr olds.
