Alternative free schools in London

Hello,

I am looking for alternative free primary schools in London. I was considering home educating but now a single mum of 3 young curious and active children, I don't feel up to the challenge.
There seem to be some really good private schools but too expensive sadly.

Many thanks

Alternative Free Schools are almost all secondary. They are schools for pupils either excluded or at risk on exclusion from mainstream school. Is that what you want? They are called AP schools.

If you want a 'standard' primary free school as it will an alternative to an independent school then I don't think that you understand free schools. They are just academy schools. A very very small number were previously independent schools but most are just newly opened academies.

A few older free schools have a more bespoke ethos (music specialisms, Reggio, montessori inspired etc) but most new ones are pretty mainstream schools.

If you mean one with an alternative curriculum and ethos- a bit like Steiner or a 'Human Scale School' I think you might struggle.

That is not really what Free Schools are about- they are just about the Government generating more school places on the cheap.

Have you looked into Home Ed groups? Some very active/ organised ones run group sessions which might be more the sort of hands on thing you are after.

The only alternative schools I know are independent, fee-paying schools.

You wanted The Family School at Larkhall but I understand it's temporarily closed and didn't manage to get funding as a free school so was feepaying.
