Hi, my daughter is due to be born next month and we want to start the registration process . we are not sure which private schools are best in st johns wood/hampstead area , as they are close to where we stay. if anyone has any experience in this please advice .
also , someone told me its best to register your kid in a school that serves as a nursery and a primary school.

What is best for your child may not be best for someone else. There is no universal best. So, please define what you mean.

Hi OP

Can I recommend that you get a copy of the good schools guide for north London?

Also, you may want to have a look at London Preprep and Mumsinthewood.

Do you want your daughter to go to a girls' or mixed school?

Off the top of my head, girls' schools round there are Sarum Hall, St Christopher's, South Hampstead, St Margaret's. Others will know more than I do.

Different schools have different registration procedures - I think you get a two week window during which SH will accept applications (two years before your daughter is due to start) - and these can change.

Have a look + visit them. Do you have secondary in mind already? That may point you towards a Prep.

Friends send their children to the American School (NW8) and are very happy with it.

Will you be a long term stayer or are you an expat likely to return home? How many hours a week will she be there and from what age?
