Hoylake / West Kirby Primary Schools

My partner and I (along with our lovely kids!) will be moving to Hoylake or West Kirby within the next few months. We're currently viewing houses and I'd be keen to hear your experiences of schools in the area. Our unusual circumstances mean that we need 5 primary places for our brood! It should going to be a tricky one! Any feedback is appreciated! Of particular importance to us is pastoral care.

Oh this might be fun. Love to see the faces of the people in the admission office when you say that you want 5 primary places all in one school. Many schools in the area are full, especially toward the bottom end of primary school.
The one gleam of light in this is that Wirral LA have a slightly unusual admission policy which says that if you are in catchment zone for the school then you will be admitted even if the school is full to the PAN for the year group if they are in years 3 to 6 and not covered by the infant class size regulations. So that should get some of the "brood" places hopefully but the really difficult ones will be those in years reception (F2) to 2.
Most of the schools in that area are good or better and some are considered by parents to be "go to" schools where any place is fought over.
The other consideration that you need to think about is the secondary school situation. Wirral has grammar schools, with girls and boys separate grammar schools in and just outside of west kirby. You do need to think carefully about what you will do if grammar schools are not an option for some of your children. You mention good pastoral care as being important. The grammar schools are not renowned for being that good on pastoral care.
If you want to be more specific on ages and schools you are considering then please feel free to PM me, as i might be able to help.

Thanks admissions! My partner and I are both widows. Between us the children are 3,4,5,6 & 9!! I know!!! But that's the hand life has dealt us!! I mention pastoral care due to their difficult circumstances. Each of them lost a parent before they were 5 (in my youngest's case before he was born).
