I normally buy Kickers but I just can't find any that are cheap enough at the moment (normally find them on sale somewhere). My son goes through shoes so quickly. I want to buy a good pair that will last more than 6 months. Can anyone recommend a good pair, just be black and velcro would be helpful!

Do you have any Clark outlet shop? Like the one in Portsmouth Gunwhalf Quays. The price are much cheaper than its normal shop. And Clark is strong enough to last a year.

We usually do Clarks but this year I found some good reasonably priced ones in Sports Direct, my eldest size 2 got a pair of adidas black velcro and not very adidas like, more school shoes like. they were £19.99

The younger size 12/13 got a pair of rebooks, same sort of price (looking at their website, they don't seem to do anymore)

The year before we got a pair from ASDA only £13 and they actually lasted the full term!

Try supermarkets like Tesco [or Asda].
Find quality fine. Also soft round heels and comfy.

I second sports direct. My DS (10) didn't like any in Clarks this year but Sports Direct had some suitable for school that he was happy with. He plays football in them every playtime and they're still in great condition

Are they allowed to be black trainers? We got some for my DTs at Sports direct. Plain black trainers with two velcro tabs. I think they were £8.50 a pair, though there are some on the website for £5. They are in nursery though and nursery and reception are allowed trainers.

After years of searching for school shoes that don't get wrecked the first week of being worn I found these:
www.marksandspencer.com/s/kids/school-uniform/school-shoes

Freshfeet?? Scuff Resistant Toe Bumper Trainers with Silver Technology
From Marks and Spencer's.

They've worn them for seven weeks and still look like new. My boys are 9 and 11, play football every lunchtime, walk to school through the woods kicking leaves etc and do the normal 'boy' stuff!

DH bought DS's school shoes this year. I wasn't impressed when he came home with a pair from BHS. About £20. I always buy dc shoes from Clarks or Russell and Bromley.

But I must admit, the BHS shoes are holding up vv well. Not that I'll tell DH just yet.
