Ok, so straight up I am going to say I am a TA but I work in a junior school so don't know anything about expected achievement in infants.
I will also say I know my daughter is bright but not super bright so this isn't a "I don't know if my child is doing ok they can only (insert super brilliant thing here)" type thread.
I am genuinely interested in how much they reading expectations have been raised for year one children with last years curriculum changes.
My very average DS is now in year 5, who by the end of year 2 was a level 2b reading and bringing home gold book band. I was surprised to see therefore that DD first day year one has bought home a purple book band book, obviously levels are no longer relevant.
As I said I know my DD is bright, so I don't want "she's doing really well" comments. I just wondered if anyone could tell me what the expected book band is for start and end of KS1 now, as on the old curriculum DD would have been ahead but I assume (based on what we teach in KS2) is much closer to expected. Thanks.
