My ds's teacher wants him assessed through school for dyslexia. It's so slow though and teacher has mentioned getting a private assessment.

What or where do I need to look for when arranging this?

There a test centre in Kings Cross - London.

I believe it is quite expensive though foe diagnostics as there are a couple I think: Psychological - done by and Educational Pstchologist
other being done by a Specialist Dyslexia Practitioner/Teacher

I'm not sure where you are Op. A friend of mine recommended the Helen Arkyl Centre in Guildford. There is also a different centre in Bristol that I have heard is good.
Maybe contact a Dyslexia charity. They often have helplines and can explain in more detail.

What you are looking for is a qualified Educational Psychologist or a PATOSS assessor. You can Google PATOSS and Association of Educational Psychologists to find someone local to you. I am in the Harrow area if you want some numbers over this way.

British psychological society has a searchable register by area and will say if do private work. You don't actually need to be in the bps to practise though.
