Is it true that they've changed the sibling rule for admissions this year?

If so, why have they done this?

They give priority to siblings for whom it is their closest school. Other siblings get less priority than children without a sibling who live nearby. This isn't uncommon. It is only a small school and if they gave priority to all siblings (including ones whose families moved after getting the oldest child a place or who just live s long way away) then it could mean children without a sibling living close to the school find all the spaces are gone. I don't know this school but other schools have similar policies to make it fair on families with 1 child who would otherwise never be able to access a local school

Yes, it appears so - both the new policy and the previous policy are on here.

Many schools no longer prioritise out-of-catchment siblings over catchment children, and policies can change over time.

As to why - you can ask them. Perhaps children who live near the school are failing to get places because out of catchment siblings were getting the places?
