Breakfast Club Prices

To any parents who might read this, our school Breakfast Club is £2 per child for 25 minutes without breakfast, £4 for 45 minutes with breakfast. I reckon that's a bit steep - it restricts prospective working times and currently have to use sparingly - so I'm thinking about having a word. If you have a mo, please could you let me know what your school charges, the duration and whether you get breakfast included. Thanks

We pay £4 for 45 mins which includes breakfast if pre booked at the start of term, £5 for late bookings. There is also the option of paying 50p to drop off at 8.30 so 15 mins care, no food. round here a childminder charges about £4-£5 an hour so I don't think it is that bad, although a bit painful now there are two of them going. They get cereal and fruit + something different every day- bagels/croissants/bacon rolls

I volunteer at a local school breakfast club. It's inner city and run by a charity so it's free to attend. Breakfast included, 45 mins.

£3 for half an hour regardless of whether the child eats breakfast or not.

That it restricts your working time is hardly a good argument for making it cheaper, they are running a business and will have costs to cover.

£2 from 8 until school starts at 8.55, whether breakfast is eaten or not.

Ours is FREE. But they have to buy food which is about 20p!!!

They have to pay staff, provide food - sounds alright to me.

Free! Open 8-9. They get apple or orange juice, cereal and toast. Jigsaws, giant jenga, board games, drawing etc for playing after as well. Move to wales

Our school doesn't have one! Inner City school too. I would gladly pay whatever they wanted.

But I'd agree with noblegiraffe too. The service is what it is. Do you expect them to cut costs by serving cheaper cornflakes or cutting staff wages?

£4.50 for an hours care with breakfast. One teacher runs it with a helper on busy mornings and they are just the best! My dd goes once a week when I start earlier than norm and is gutted it's not more often!

£5 here, from 7.45 and includes breakfast. Though my kids won't eat the breakfast there. I cannot understand why, as the breakfast club has better cereal than us. Winds me up every morning! No option to not pay for it.

Kids love it though and I am in work by 8.30

£3 including breakfast for an hour. They're really flexible and don't even mind me dropping them off on the day. It's fab.

Childcare costs vary a fair bit by region so I'm not sure how applicable the data will be for you.

Agree with garth also I suspect some schools get subsidies if it's a deprived area.

School starts at 8.40

Drop off from 8.15 is free.

Breakfast club from 8.00 (obv with breakfast) is £2.80

Our previous school was 50p plus 50p breakfast for an hour. So it's interesting to hear from other people. My friends who have kids at other schools think ours is extortionate. I've come to accept it but the reality is if I wanted to work say 5 mornings a week, as is the case with Teaching Assistant jobs, with 2 kids, a third of wages goes on breakfast club, where other schools I know are free or very cheap. But hey ho! At our school, they would cover overheads, which is one member of staff and some cereal, with 2 or 3 kids. There are usually a dozen so we're into profit-making. My understanding was the government are asking schools to offer affordable wraparound care. Thanks for replies. I will ask the head what he thinks if the prices as he was not at the school when they were set and if might review... Thanks

They have one TA, probably on £8 per hour who is working 45 minutes and cereal. They take about £50 each session, so no, not asking for wage cut, asking for accessible service. If that's the going rate, I accept that but other parents I know pay less at other schools.

£2.50 with breakfast (cereal, toast and a drink). Opens at 8am. Can't grumble at that.
