PE in primary school Scotland

Does anyone know how much PE primary aged children should be getting in Scotland? I have been searching the curriculum for excellence but am drawing a blank.
Am getting increasingly irritated that DS never seems to get any as I feel physical education is really important. He's supposed to get gym twice a week, one of the day's falls on assembly day so he never gets it that day but so far this year he only appears to have had gym once or twice since January! This has been confirmed by his classmates. Is there an actual requirement or just recommendations? I just want to get my facts straight before I speak to his teacher.

ours get 2 hours a week bit as they are practising for a school show one of the PE times is being used for that so are having one lot of PE per week at the moment.

this any use?

As far as I am aware they are meant to get 2 hours a week - but it may just be a recommendation rather than a requirement. In my dc's primary it tends to be 1 hour a week actual PE (either with PE teacher or class teacher) and the other hour could be playing rounders in the playground or similar.

Two hours here. At the moment Ds P5 has 1 hour indoor PE and 1 hour swimming.

Yeah I've just been reading up on it. I have parents night in a couple of weeks so will definitely be addressing it then.

It's 2 hours a week of Physical Education. 1 hour a day of Physical Activity. These are not the same. PE doesn't need to be in the gym hall.

This is a requirement. Put a Freedom of Info request to your council to find out which schools they administer are meeting the required time.

I checked the council website. Apparently 88% of schools in the area are reaching their target but i don't think that means anything. Ds is scheduled to have 2 gym sessions per week so the school could just be saying that is what they're getting but the children are saying otherwise.
1 hour of physical activity a day? are you sure? how would they fit that in? I understand the difference between PE and physical activity and i know it doesn't have to be in the gym hall but they are just not doing it all from what i can gather.

Yup. It includes playtime and lunchtime as physical activity.

How's the school doing on Outdoor Ed? There should be regular, planned learning outdoors too...

My ds has 'gym' 2x per week. I'm not sure if it is two hours though.

Ah well yes he gets plenty activity at playtime.
So far learning outdoors has involved a walk round the local park-once, and a trip to the library.
At the attached nursery they were outside all the time.

That's what I though euphemia and that's what I'll be asking about at parents evening.
Ds is very active outwith school so I'm not worried about that aspect just that it's meant to part of the curriculum and he's missing it in favour of assembly every single week.

2 hrs per week here. One hour is with a PE teacher and the other with the class teacher.

Lots of outdoor learning too when the weather permits.
