Hello,
we are currently looking for houses in Hale/Altrincham area, in the Stamford Park area. I had come across very good reviews about the Stamford Park school but just checked earlier and in its last assessment by Ofster in 2010 it had dropped from outstanding to good. Do you have any experience at all with the school and would you recommend it? If yes, is it difficult to get accepted, even if the house is within the catchment area? If not, is there any possibility to get accepted to other schools within close proximity?
Many thanks!

Trafford LEA are very helpful. Some of the schools have combined catchments e.g Stamfird and Bollin. Bowdon CofE is one if the top performing in North West. I suspect all in that area are fine. Visit and decide which suits you etc then scrutinise admissions policies and data

Nothing to do with schools but I used to leave near Stamford Park. It's lovely round there and Hale high street is fabulous. I miss it.

Thanks both! I will give a call today at Trafford LEA to ask them, I remember when we first moved to Manchester, I went there to get some general information and they were really helpful. Diabolo, you are right. We also like it there and decided to live there instead of other places in South Manchester.

I have a friend who just did the same. She visited all 3 I mentioned. She was happy with all, but made her choice of how to rank them based on overall feel, wrap round care, faith/non faith etc. As they have catchment areas, as long as you are within catchment you will be fine as far as I know
