Next Sept, 2015, they start the September after they are 4. DD was 4 on the 17th September so will be nearly 5 when she starts this year.

You need to apply for primary schools - it's not automatic, even if the dc is in nursery. If you're in England you'll need to apply by next January (check LEA website for exact date) for 2015 entry.

Next year ie September 2016.
You will need to apply for her school place in the Autumn term of 2014.
This is all assuming you are in England.

DS's Birthday is in the first week of Sept and that last year at nursery was very long. He started school on the Wednesday and he was 5 on the Friday. One of his class mates was born on 1 Sept and had been 5 for a few days when term started.

No. Just no. I don't want to think about having to apply for proper school for DS1 THIS YEAR FFS! (Yes, I know he's already 3, I know he starts in September 2015, but no!)
