Year one writing?

Anyone know what my year one July born DS should be able to do right now, almost half way through the academic year? I understand that most year 1's are a 1B come September (what ever 1B means).

I would be very happy to have 2 or 3 legible sentences :) Preferably with a good stab at the full stop and capital letter thing (ie not necessarily 100% right, but well on the way). Depends of course how long they're given to write it in and how much support is given - that's for independent work in about 15 minutes.

A 1B is for the end of year 1 not the beginning.

Agree a stab at sentences using phonetic knowledge for spelling with some full stops and capital letters.

I would worry more about the reading to be honest

I think at this stage they are really just hoping they can communicate something on paper to be honest.
so basic sentences with a nod towards capital letters and full stops and a reasonable attempt at spelling and trying to use the words they know. so some spelt correctly but the rest should be phonetically plausible as they have been taught the phonic sounds.
