Help! - Gingham dress - which shade of blue?!

Hi, my dd starts reception this September. She can wear a blue gingham dress for the beginning of the Autumn term. I found a gorgeous one from Tesco, ordered a blue online but when it arrived it turned out to be a dark blue/navy. Anyone out there, with child at a school where they wear blue gingham, found that the school's are not fussed which shade of blue?? Because I so love the style and shade of the dress!! :) Thanks

My DD's school aren't fussed whether it's light or dark blue. She wears both. Unless the school are particularly rigid about uniform, I would think it would be fine.

HTH.

My DC school state that kids should wear light blue gingham summer dresses and white socks.

However DD has just finished reception and there has been a child wearing a red gingham dress all summer term, so they can't be that strict Grin

I think on the whole if the school colour is navy, then the dresses should be navy. If its royal blue, they wear light blue.

Having said that- our school doesn't seem to care!

Have you looked at the school website? There are probably pictures of some of the kids, so you might be able to tell from that.

Some schools are quite strict on colour and stye, but if they are the uniform list will generally either say a shade in the description or say something like 'Blue gingham summer dress as available from [name of school uniform shop]'

If it just says 'blue gingham dress' then you should be fine

If it isth school your DD will be going to, then you must have visited or at least seen girls walking around in the uniform?

Our school specifies navy, but as the light blue is more readily available, most girls wear that.

Ours aren't particularly fussy - the girls can wear light blue, navy or yellow. I prefer navy as the cardigan/jumpers are navy, it suits my dds better plus if its cold or wet I can chuck navy tights on them and have them match.

Another school which specifies navy, but most girls wear light blue. None of the local school wear shops sell navy.

Thanks all! I feel reassured to stick with the navy:)
