My son told me "end of June" - not sure how reliable he is!

Including Level 6 ones??

Anyone know? - thanks!

Our school has said they will be in the end of year reports which are given out the week before they finish.

Schools will get the levels on Tuesday 9th July. Some papers are already back and very shoddily marked as per but we can only see marks atm, not levels - and the level boundaries change slightly every year.

Really feenie? I didn't know the papers were starting to head back already!

We were surprised to get one subject back so early - then looked at the standard of marking and could see why.

How the hell do you stuff up marking Maths tests? Confused

We have first lot of English papers back not looked at them yet.

Oh god, really? I will be going through mine with a fine toothed comb. Well, the ones I don't agree with, anyway. Quite anxious as I'm in a single stream entry school for the first time, so feeling the pressure.

I can't remember a year in the last fifteen or so when we haven't sent papers back tbh - usually in writing though, but obviously not last year and this. Two reading last year - that's 8% in a single form entry, it's makes a massive difference to us. Don't usually have to send Maths back though!

Feenie, can I ask - do you only send them back when you believe the mis-marking has resulted in the wrong level being awarded?

Report
Feenie · 27/06/2013 17:54

You are only allowed to send them back if it will make a difference to the level. Your Head will receive a re-marking instructions booklet and you need to follow the guidance. It's not difficult, just laborious. And I can recommend sending the papers back by recorded delivery - was stung once, never again!

Oh god, that sounds stressful! Thanks for the advice. Wish the 9th would just HURRY UP!

Any time, GetStuffezd.

I'm waiting for the marking instructions and thresholds before opening

Report
GetStuffezd · 27/06/2013 19:07

Why have you decided to do that, mrz?

Report
mrz · 27/06/2013 19:11

There isn't a great deal to be gained from opening now and I haven't actually had time.

Report
GetStuffezd · 27/06/2013 19:15

Hmm, I suppose so. I would waste a massive amount of time going over the children's answers and yes, that really would be pointless without thresholds.

mrz · 27/06/2013 19:47

I might feel differently if I were the Y6 teacher

Report
lljkk · 27/06/2013 19:52

Aren't you in the least bit curious, mrz? Or do you expect no surprises?

Report
mrz · 27/06/2013 19:56

Until we know the thresholds it's just guessing

Report
Feenie · 27/06/2013 20:04

Thing is though, the period you have to send in re-marks is getting shorter and shorter - and in our case it seems directly proportional to the quality of the marking. I can more or less guess which are likely to be near the border and get a headstart.

Report
Feenie · 27/06/2013 20:05

I don't fill in the paperwork until I know the thresholds though, that really be a massive waste of time and energy.

We got the Maths back today. SHOCKING mistakes in the marking - page marks incorrect, totals incorrect...

My bet is that the level 5 boundary goes up by 2 this year as I thought it was an easy test.

That's our experience too.

What IS going on this year?

Any idea what the L5 and L6 boundaries were last year, and are likely to be this year? DD got told her % marks today but not levels, so presumably they don't know them yet.

DC school website says we get reports on 12 July, so i guess KS2 results come out then, too. 2 weeks and counting!

Report
spanieleyes · 29/06/2013 10:43

We have our reading papers back but we don't tell the children until we have the level thresholds. I see little point in saying "Congratulations, you scored 33, which could be a 4 or a 5!" ( especially as there is something strange going on with the results!)
