Thank you. Are there any tutors that have been tried and tested that can be recommended?

Have you asked your dc's school. They may know or used somebody. In our school teachers are very open about using private tutors for 11+. Some teachers admitted that even they themselves used private tuitions to support their own dcs through 11+. Because when it comes teach one?s own children sometimes even very good professional teachers find it tough going. Or parents who had their dcs already in gs they may know someone reliable that's how I got to know the tutor for my dc. My dc's tutor is very good and doesn't over charge. Many local parents use her. Unforturnately we don't live in your county.

Have you contacted the tutors listed in your area on the 11+ website?

I did ask at our school but they are very strict about using tutors. I wish they were as opn as your school.

I did have a look and I contacted the two in my area and they both are full.

When are you looking for? We are in a GS area and everyone has long since booked tutors to start in Sept with a year's tutoring for the exam at the beginning of year 6. Some booked tutors as long ago as year 2 (to start in year 5). Couldn't you do the tutoring yourself?

What about checking with private schools and grammar schools? It may sound mad to some however one of the grammar schools in our area actually offer group 11+ private tuitions. If tuitoring for 11+ is such big issue why even the grammar school offers classes.

I could PM you details of one. However, she is now away for most of the summer so may not be suitable for you. Let me know if interested.
