Picked up DD (yr 2) from school today, amd her lovley teacher gave me a letter, it says we understand xxxxx has been offered a place at the school and goes on to welcolme the twins (one letter each ;) to the school with a bookmark and booking form for after school clubs etc....

The council addmissions office is closed so i cant check if they do have a place - the last letter i have says, they will inform me in june what school has been allocated to them (there was a problem with the forms) but they did add them to the waiting list.

I know all places were allocated 90 places so do you think they are in???
or has this been given to me in error?

The school is wrong to be handing out such forms before the LA has officially told you what the outcome is. The law specifically says they should not do this.
However if I can put it like this, it will make for an interesting admission appeal if you can supply letters to the panel from the school welcoming your twins to the school and asking what after-school clubs they want etc. It does somewhat give you the impression that you have places at the school.
I would fill in the form and get it back to the school straight away. Then when you have delivered it back to the school ring up the council admission office and ask for confirmation based on what the school have told you. I would not break out the wine just yet but I would make sure it is being well chilled in anticipation!

Went into office this morning the lady's there called the admissions office yesterday after the twins were added to their lists to double check they have a place before giving me the letter - they knew how worried and stressed I was about it.

Post came today with the official offer letters so dt's are both going to the same school as their sister :)
