Year 6 SATS. What's going in the clear pencil case?

I can't remember what DS1 had even though it was only 3 years ago.

I am sure there is a note from school somewhere if I rummage. Blush

Calculators are supplied I know that.

Found the note from school-

'Bring essential stationery in clear pencil cases or 'poly wallets'. Right. Confused

I feel like everyone knows what they are doing and I don't. Grin

Our school always provided equipment. But I would say just a pencil, ruler and rubber. Anything else I am sure the school will have x.

My DC's school have never mentioned stationary at all.

Thanks. I know we have to supply the equipment. There has been a request that there are no novelty erasers and distracting pencil toppers.

I wonder if a protractor and compass is required?

Just realised that my post was of no help at all. Sorry! Blush

It was Mylife because it shows that some schools are supplying it and some aren't. Smile

They won't know whether a protractor, mirror etc are needed until they open the teacher's pack on the day. Maybe just check with the school if they are expecting you to provide equipment what will they need?

I think I will have to jellys. DS1 says to take a Maths Set just to be sure but I'm sure that's a bit OTT. I think I will send-

Pencil (s)
Berol Rollerball pen (s)
Eraser
Pencil Sharpener
Protractor

I just can't wait for it to all be over jellys. This time next week he will be nearly all done.

Yeah, it's such an unnecessary stress from them!

The past papers will stop coming home! Yay!

pencil sharpener or more than one pencil - nothing more likely to stress a child out than if they break the lead in the first few minutes.

Yes, that's true Peri. Maybe quite a few pencils. I don't suppose he wants to be sharpening pencils mid paper.

and make sure he has a tissue with him just in case of a runny nose, that could be very distracting too.

Never sent anything in with any of mine either. Nor has it been expected at any schools I've taught at.
My dd is quite looking forwards to next week as they are all being supplied with toast in the mornings Grin

School supplying it for us - along with free breakfast club and a special lunch club for those doing the afternoon L6 papers.

Cannot wait for this time next week.

Envy at all these schools supplying everything. Do you have to provide stationery for normal lessons? We do.

No. Never come across that, again, in any of the schools I've known as a parent, teacher, or where friends children go.
Some children choose to take their pencil case in as they like having their own bits and bobs, but never been asked to.

It may make a difference that DS2 is at Middle School. They do Year 5, 6 and 7 there before leaving for High School. It is quite grown up compared to his First School.

We supply everything.

For reading/grammar they will only need pencils, rubber, ruler.

For maths (on wed and Thu) they may also need a mirror, tracing paper and protractor. I would have thought the school would supply these, but might be worth checking.

Oh, here we have Primary (Yrs R - Yr6), then secondary (Yrs 7 onwards).
They provide everything themselves once in secondary (ie Yr7) Smile
