DD has managed to get two school places

I've often read on here that this can't happen but it seems to have. DD2 is due to start at first choice school A in September, the same as DD1 goes to. School A has her on their list, I've accepted the place online and its still showing as that school online.

This morning our third choice school (C) sent a new starter pack. I've eventually got through to the school, thinking its an admin error. They have said DD2 is definately on their list to start, downloaded from our council lists. They can't remove her without us declining the place through the council but I'm worried if I decline a place it might get confused with school A and they may take her off the wrong list. Two schools are in different countys and we are catchment for school C.

Schhol A HT is going to monitor the list and try to prevent DDs place from disappearing but has said it may take time to clear up. School C is adamant that DD can't have two places and she is expected there so will ask nursery for her files etc.

Neither council admissions are answering the phone, anyone with experience of this? What happens now? School C has suggested DD application may be rejected and we may loose both places and we would need to make a late application to over subscribed school A again or as school C is catchment they may decide to place her there.

Just wanted to add I only made one application to our council with the three choices on, exactly the same as we did for DD1 place.

School C is talking rubbish.

They can't remove her without us declining the place through the council

Oh yes they can. They just need the council to tell them that they have messed up and that your daughter shouldn't be on their list.

School C is adamant that DD can't have two places

That bit is right. But you haven't got two places. You have a place at school A. You do not have a place at school C whatever they think.

she is expected there so will ask nursery for her files etc.

Tell the nursery not to provide anything to school C as your daughter isn't going there.

School C has suggested DD application may be rejected and we may lose both places

Complete and utter rubbish. They should not be trying to scare you like that.

Don't try to decline the place at school C. You can't. You haven't been offered it. The only valid offer you have received is the one from your LA which was, presumably, for school A. As you have been offered and accepted the place at school A they can't take it away from you.

Contact your LA and point out to them that you were offered school A but school C seem to think you are going there. Personally I would also complain about the way they responded when you contacted them, particularly their suggestion that you may lose both places. Your LA should sort it out for you.

It is the LA who have messed this up and it is for the LA to sort it out. Email them saying you have accepted place at school A and are going to that school however school C seem to be under the impression that you are going to them. Please could they resolve the situation with school C.

What did the LAE say about this? I'm really shocked that it can happen.

Was reading this earlier and have just got home to a letter from our second choice school inviting us for an enrolment meeting since we've been offered a place, which is lovely but we were offered and accepted a place at our first choice school a month ago Confused

So, you're not alone.

Do I contact the second choice school or the LA in the first instance? Second choice school is in a different borough, which may explain the fuck up mistake; should I contact my resident LA (and LA of first choice school) which I applied through or the LA of second choice school?

We still have a place at first choice school, right?

You still have a place at the first choice school. They cannot take that away from you. You contact your LA and get them to sort it out.
