Same as Simpson. The first time we did it we also added photos of memorable events through the year but it went wrong and not all children were included.

We've also done a dvd of children talking individually and as groups about their school memories and school logo tshirts but in reverse colours and all the children's names on the back

They have a leavers disco and someone is there to take photos of the night (and make sure all kids are included in the pics) and each child gets an album with the pics...

The parents are also asked if they have any of the year group photos of when the kids were younger (ie reception to yr5) to display in the hall during the disco.

I am sure they have had mugs made with the class photo on in the past too. They are all given a nice pen with the school badge on.

Sausage - it is all funded by the PTA in my kids school.

The other thing they do is when the kids leave the nursery, they have a little graduation ceremony and are handed a school tie ready to start f/t school which is very sweet...

A disco night and then a little assembly for all the parents and kids to wish them well.

The head hands out a £small dictionary with a written note to each one with date and school name.

The year before last, they all had a £10 gift voucher for WH Smith

They get a bible here but it is a faith school. The photo stuff sounds lovely but there are a number of children at the school who can't be photographed for social reasons so it would feel unfair here.

Hooded sweatshirts with name of primary "leavers" and the year on the front and all class names on the back. Children love them!

Autograph book here, then they spend the rest of the morning after the Leavers' Assembly going round getting each other to sign them!

My DD got a fountain pen (with the school's name on), and a dictionary, from the PTA. Both were meant for use at senior school.

Church school, so a Bible (or other faith book for children from other religions)

When I was at school we got a book token, we went on a walk to the bookshop and all chose our books, then everyone signed in the inside covers of everyone else's.

Bible donated by the church (faith school)
Autograph book and pen donated by the PTA
Leavers disco funded by parents (via ticket sales)

Ours get a year/autograph book. I usually make them, the kids take each others' photos, then the teacher takes some fun group photos. I make a composite of the individual photos as a border around the front cover, then each child gets a half page with a photo and space to write a message in. There are also spaces for messages from friends in other years and staff. The fun group pictures go on the back cover. They're printed on the laser printer at school so end up costing pence each.

They used to get a framed group photo with all the names on but it was decided to do the year books a couple of years ago and the kids love them.

In the past they got a cheap and nasty geometry set that they all hated.

They have a party, that I know of, no idea how it's funded. I would feel sniffy about any physical gift being offered (beyond a pencil!). There are better ways to spend the hard-raised money (I will still have 2 DC at same school).

Dd's had a small party/disco and the parents provided some party food/pop iirc.

ours have a year book. It takes a while to organise and cost £260 last year for 30 children.
Each child has a page, with their photo and some info
each staff member has slot, photo and paragraph
whole class photo form reception and year 6 also in it

children fill in a questionaire for their page Favourite book, fav drink, fav subject, I want to be... Favourite memory from school and funniest memory

staff do questionnaire and also short message to year 6. staff questions are very funny, fav drink - double gin after taking year 6 to x place. Similar questions to kids really

there are then lots of phot pages squeezed in of all sorts of things they have done over the years.

It is really really popular and takes a lot of effort to do.

DD got a DVD full of photos of her year from their first year at the school right through to the leavers party/disco. It was a lovely surprise and lovely to see all the "babies" growing up.

Our yr 6 use to get a £10 book token, then this year they each received a dictionary and thesaurus instead. This is funded by PTA.

French or Gaelic dictionary depending on which subject they have chosen to study at secondary. It is presented at a closing assembly for the parents.

steppemum - our PTA do the same - a yearbook where every child and teacher puts forward favourite memories and favourite "lists" - book, film, tv show, colour, teacher(!!) etc.... it is full of pics from the year - it is really professional and will be kept forever......

Our school has a leavers concert where they sing a leaving song guaranteed to have even the most cynical parents in tears. that is the thing the seem to enjoy most, it's like graduation. they got leather bookmarks with school name and logo on them too.
